Internships

This process must be completed before registration opens. Those dates can be found on the academic calendar.

Students interested in pursuing an internship must first find a faculty sponsor from the department willing to serve as internship supervisor. Please see our department directory here: Directory. Once you have found an internship supervisor email the department at FinEco@txstate.edu for approval before registration.

This process must be completed before registration opens. Those dates can be found on the academic calendar.

Getting Started:

1) Read all the material here, including the attached links at the bottom.

2) Review the syllabus.

3) Ask yourself, is it for finance (free elective) or for economics (advanced elective)?

4) Does this fit into your classes needed for graduation?

5) Do you have advanced courses completed as required? (see syllabus)

Materials needed:

  • Informal transcript of your classes and grades to date. (from Catsweb)

  • A completed application.

  • Written job description.

After you have completed the above, send it to your internship supervisor and then contact them for an appointment if there are any remaining questions before being allowed to register for the class. The work must be substantive to be considered. There will be work logs submitted every two weeks and a paper toward the end of the semester.
